Champéry BikePark.ch des Portes-du-Soleil has been chosen by the UCI to organise and host the MTB World Championships in 2011. 5 years of hard work has finally payed off.

This is a nice victory for the lifts of Télé Champéry-Les Crosets but also for regional lifts, Valais lifts and other Swiss lifts. Télé Champéry - Les Crosets lifts, Télé Morgins and the Portes du Soleil domain have not stopped, since these last few years, staking on mountain biking.

Beginning of the adventure in 2003
On the telephone, the members of the organising committee were happy. «These last news were evidently good news, but, in the beginning, we weren't so confident." explains the ancien triathlete. "We knew that our file was solid, but there was also a good italian candidature. And, the sad candidature of Sion 2006 had thaught us a good lesson, not to be so sure before a designation.»

The idea of presenting a candidature was born after the World Cup week-end (cross-country, downhill and four-cross) which was organised in Champéry in June 2007. «However, the true beginning of the adventure dates back to 2003, precises Stéphane Coutaz president of the organising commitee. The society of the lifts of Champéry-Les Crosets has decided to play the MTB card. With, as final objective, the desire to organise one day the World Championships on the BikePark.ch domain.»

We already know that the trials will all take place at the Grand-Paradis, as was the case in June 2007. Next year, Champéry will host a World Cup Cross-Country Trial and a general rehearsal with the 3 disciplines is already planned for this summer.
